Minister of Agriculture, Eng. Khaled Hneifat, announced the gradual restriction of tomato exports to increase the supply in local markets.

In a statement on Monday, the Ministry of Agriculture explained that this decision aims to address the rising prices and ensure that an adequate supply of tomatoes is available for local consumption.

The ministry noted that this gradual approach would continue, potentially leading to a complete halt in exports if the low market supply and high prices persist.

The decision was made following close monitoring of market fluctuations, where a decrease in supply to central markets and high temperatures have driven up tomato prices.

The Ministry of Agriculture expects that the available quantities will improve and prices will decrease by mid-August.
